ALPHARETTA, Ga., Feb. 28, 2006 — Civitium, LLC, the market-leading consulting firm for municipal broadband and Digital Community initiatives, has been retained to provide advisory services to the City of Vancouver, BC. Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan recently supported a motion submitted by Councilor Peter Ladner to explore opportunities for Vancouver to establish wireless Internet services in the city. "Vancouver is already a progressive and modern city, and an initiative like this could be tremendously beneficial for residents and businesses alike," stated Mayor Sullivan in a press release issued January 31, 2006.
The City has retained Civitium to research and identify potential benefits of wireless broadband technology and provide recommendations on strategy, policy, business model and technology options. Civitium’s findings and recommendations will be consolidated into a report, which is expected to be released in late March 2006. The City expects the evaluation of the report to occur over the following months, and will then determine the best course of action.
