ALPHARETTA, Ga., Nov. 13, 2007 — Civitium, LLC, the leading management and technology consulting firm for the public broadband market, today announced the appointment of Jason Shannon as Chief Technology Officer. As CTO, Shannon will be responsible for leading the firm’s technology strategy and expanding its portfolio of technology-related services.

Shannon joins Civitium from EarthLink Municipal Networks, where he served as Lead Wireless Architect and was responsible for the technical architecture of many of the largest broadband wireless initiatives to date, including Wireless Philadelphia, Anaheim and New Orleans. He was also responsible for leading EarthLink’s strategic relationships with product manufacturers and its research and development efforts within the EarthLink Development Lab.

Prior to EarthLink, Shannon was an independent consultant where he led numerous engagements focused on technical feasibility and advanced engineering services for urban and rural wireless broadband initiatives. He has served as the lead architect for an array of wireless broadband networks, emergency communications systems, and application services for local, state and federal governments, public safety, public utilities, and private operators. Shannon has vast experience in wireless technologies and has authored seminars and training programs related to the design and implementation of municipal Wi-Fi, WiMAX, point to point and multipoint microwave, and optical wireless networks.
