Centric Introduces Goldenrod(TM) Content-Managed Widget System — Powers Brand Engagement in Social Networks

LOS ANGELES, April 2, 2009 — Centric / Agency of Change introduced Goldenrod, a first-of-its-kind content-managed widget system. Using Goldenrod, brands can build real-time conversational marketing in social networks, leading to brand engagement and evangelism. Goldenrod has been deployed and is available today.

“Goldenrod enables long-term, strategic social campaigns,” said Jason Stoddard, Centric’s Managing Partner, Strategy. “Now, brands don’t have to develop a new widget or app for every initiative — they can build on the same installed base, without reseeding or redeployment. Combined with relevant content and functionality, it powers brand engagement and evangelism in social networks.”

Using Goldenrod, brands can manage widgets placed in Facebook, MySpace, and other social networks using a simple control panel to change content and style, to communicate with and reward users, and to monitor the results of their efforts — without programming, at a moment’s notice.

Goldenrod integrates with the popular Clearspring widget platform for distribution on all major social networks and personal start pages, as well as individual blogs and Mac and Windows desktops. Goldenrod accommodates many different types of media, including text, images, sound, and video. The Goldenrod system can also include additional features, such as social communication or gameplay.

“Goldenrod expands Clearspring’s functionality by providing additional critical metrics, such as click-outs to external sites from the widget, as well as integrated contesting and engineered viral spread,” said Kevin Cuxil, Centric’s Director of Interactive Technologies.

The first application of Goldenrod is in Cotton, Inc’s Fab Finds widget, which the industry organization is using to promote cool fashion items made from cotton, and to engage fans with a “share to enter” contest.

Widgets are small web applications used to add features or functionality to their social network pages, blogs, or personal start pages. Popular widgets include the YouTube video player, the Google AdSense display, and the Twitter badge.
