Cellar Angels Introduces Flat-Rate Shipping on Wine

CHICAGO, Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Cellar Angels announces today a standardized flat shipping fee on any wine "ground shipping" order from one of their partner wineries. After analyzing comments from Cellar Angels' members, the most frequent response indicated a desire for lower shipping fees.  Beginning Tuesday, January 15, 2013 all ground shipping regardless of quantity will have a flat $10 shipping fee.

Cellar Angels, www.cellarangels.com is the nation's fastest growing cause-based wine marketing company.  Unique to Cellar Angels is their custom video about each wine offered, chef prepared recipes, professional tasting notes, five day online wine events and the opportunity for customers to select a charity to receive proceeds.

Now wine lovers and charity supporters will enjoy great wines delivered to their door for far less.

Cellar Angels' founder and president Martin Cody explains: "We had to solve a critical issue for our members—wine shipping fees.  We continually receive numerous compliments for the exclusive access to Napa and Sonoma wineries, however members felt the shipping cost was prohibitive to buying wines they may never had heard of.  So we said 'let's fix this' and we have."

Cellar Angels provides "members only" access to premier, highly sought after Napa Valley and Sonoma County wines through weekly online wine events.  The wines are typically very small production and rarely available outside the winery or in retail stores.  Each week Cellar Angels' members (membership is currently free) receive an email announcing the weekly offer complete with a custom made behind-the-scenes video of the winery and people making the wine, tasting notes food pairing recipe.  After their purchase members are prompted to select a charity from a growing list of charity partners and Cellar Angels donates portions of proceeds to the charity selected.

To participate in Cellar Angels' weekly offers go to www.cellarangels.com.

Cellar Angels features small, family owned or independent wineries.  These producers are declining in number as recently highlighted by a study from Phillip Howard, Associate Professor of Michigan State University https://www.msu.edu/~howardp/wine.html.

Cody explained further: "The small producer is the heart and soul of the wine industry.  When people visit wine country the tastings enjoyed most are with the small producers, tasting out of barrels, talking with the owners and learning why the wine is so special and so good.  These are the wineries we feature and we felt it important to work with wineries and fulfillment centers to reduce the shipping fee in order for more wine lovers to enjoy these special wines.  Greater access will also lead to more contributions for our charity partners."  Raising funds for charities is a core initiative for Cellar Angels.

Cellar Angels donates portions of proceeds to each charity selected and also works with charities to help them raise more funds. In addition to national charities The V Foundation, Jenny McCarthy's Generation Rescue and Leeza Gibbons' Leeza's Place.

Cellar Angels also focuses on numerous children's charities like the Ounce of Prevention.

When reached for comment, Barbara Hoffman, VP of Development for The Ounce of Prevention had this to say regarding their partnership with Cellar Angels: "The Ounce has enjoyed a two year partnership with Cellar Angels allowing us to share information about the importance of early childhood education with an entirely new audience of supporters.  Working closely with a company committed to doing good as a central part of its business model has been a wonderful experience and we look forward to the partnership growing."
