Carseek.com, the automotive site known for its up-to-date car reviews, news, and article library, has expanded its insurance section in an effort to help recession-strapped consumers save money - with this material, Carseek.com has become established as the Internet’s leading resource for car owners and buyers
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 22, 2009 — In response to consumers hit hard by recession-caused job losses and budget cuts, Carseek.com has expanded its insurance section. The site’s researchers have isolated the cost of insuring given models, assembled data on effective coverage comparisons, and compiled advice for high-risk drivers - those hit hardest by the cost of premiums.
“The need for insurance is a fact of life,” said Wes Mayder, CEO and President of Carseek.com. “Unfortunately, it’s an expense that consumers hard hit by this recession often resent. If they can’t drop their coverage, we can at least help them make the best choices to reasonably lower their premiums while protecting themselves and their families as completely as possible.”
One of the most important skills in selecting cheap auto insurance is to know how to compare insurance policies. This has been made significantly easier by online quote engines that can save drivers thousands of dollars. Still, the people who use such tools need to understand what they are reading and have a sense of the trustworthiness of the companies being recommended.
“In the real world, people who need insurance are likely to go to one agency and accept whatever is offered because the process just takes too long and is too much of a hassle otherwise,” said Mayder. “Online, they can comparison shop from the comfort of home, but they face overwhelming choices. Drivers need to understand the many factors insurers use to calculate risk. Just because you’re shopping online, doesn’t mean you don’t have to negotiate the best rates.”
Mayder counsels drivers not to assume that their driving record is the only thing insurers consider. “Insurance companies will look at the age and type of the vehicle, and the driver’s age and occupation along with the driving record,” he said. “Strategies to save money or offset negative factors could be as simple as bundling all your policies with company. There are substantial discounts for multiple policies, but many people just don’t know that’s an option.”
The new, expanded insurance section of the site will complement Carseek.com’s impressive library of current vehicle reviews and news briefs, which appear in the right-hand column of the front page. Visitors can get access to the site’s library under “Articles.” The Carseek editors invite questions, comments, and ideas. Email: editor@carseek.com.
