Carlos Slim Foundation Supports Connect2Compete's National Campaign Launch to Increase Digital Literacy, Internet Access to Latino Households

Eligible Households Will be Able to Access Discounted High-Speed Internet and Low-Cost Computers

WASHINGTON, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Following last year's announcement to support Connect2Compete's efforts to extend broadband access to 100 million "Offline" Americans, today, the Carlos Slim Foundation joins in launching the national "EveryoneOn," public awareness campaign designed to help all Americans access free digital literacy training in their communities.  Additionally, starting today, Connect2Compete will offer unconnected families access to programs providing discounted high-speed Internet and low-cost computers.

"Connect2Compete's efforts are helping close the disproportionate divide that exists amongst Hispanic and minority households in America.  Almost half of the "offline" population in the United States is Latino," Carlos Slim Domit said. "We are pleased to bring our experience in Latin America to the work of connecting Latino families in the United States.  Connectivity helps us achieve better education, create jobs, promote development and increase access to health care.  Issues that cross international borders.

Starting today, Americans can visit www.Connect2Compete.org to access the programs announced today.
