LAFAYETTE, La., March 16, 2009 — Burner Fire Control, Inc. (Burner), of Lafayette, LA, was recently recognized by Amerex Corporation for outstanding performance in the fire equipment field. Amerex is one of the largest manufacturers of fire extinguishers in the entire world, and each year, the company hands out the coveted awards to its highest-performing distributors around the globe. This year, Burner has garnered three distinguished awards from Amerex: “Top Producer, USA for high performance fire extinguishers,” “Top Producer, USA for wheeled fire extinguishers,” and “Top Producer, USA for offshore market.” This makes it four years in a row that the awards have gone to Burner.
Mr. Jim Hund, an Amerex executive, stated that Burner Fire Control has been a “valuable quality distributor” for the company for over 15 years. During that time, Burner established itself as the dominant player in the offshore Oil and Gas marketplace. According to Mr. Hund, Burner has conquered this market and set itself apart from the competition and employs a group of “highly skilled and professional technicians.”
Burner Fire Control is based in Lafayette, LA, but provides products and services to companies and governments around the globe. Founded in 1973, Burner has established itself as a worldwide leader in the fire and safety equipment field. In addition to being a “Top Producer” for Amerex products, Burner is also recognized as being one of the largest distributors of products for other manufacturers, such as Buckeye Fire Equipment, Kidde Fire Equipment, and many more. Burner also manufactures its own signature line of industrial, large-scale fire equipment, called American Fire Equipment. This equipment line includes dry chemical, AFFF foam, twin agents, and compressed air foam systems.
For nearly 30 years, Burner Fire Control was focused primarily on providing products and services to offshore Oil and Gas companies. In 2003, company leadership began a diversification process, with goals of increasing overall sales and decreasing risks associated with the extremely cyclical Oil and Gas industry. Two areas of focus were establishing a sales conduit with the U.S. government, and increasing exposure to commercial and industrial customers (outside the Oil and Gas industry). Since then, Burner has secured a direct sales contract to government buyers through GSA Advantage (Contract # GS-07F-5564P), and sales through this method have soared to over 2 million per year and are still growing. Increased marketing to commercial customers has led to a five-fold increase in sales to non-Oil and Gas customers.
