Bra Exec-Turned-Business Coach Launches Book On How To Trap Million Dollar Clients: "Network Like A Fox"

LOS ANGELES, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Nancy Fox, a former intimate apparel industry marketing executive and President of The Business Fox, a training and consulting company, has published a book designed for independent business-owners and consultants to master networking techniques for high-level contracts.

The book was inspired by a text from a former client: "Just got my first million dollar order!"

This was sweet music to Fox's ears as she had first worked with the young franchisee when his revenues were just a trickle. From the first meeting, Fox knew the source of his business problems:  he was networking in all the wrong places with the wrong people.

"He's more the rule than the exception," Fox says.

Through Fox's "Targeted Networking System" her client started networking with big cheeses in the right niche markets. That led to landing business with Bloomberg, as well as other top tier companies, and within a year he received his first single order of one million dollars.

And this wasn't the first time a client had hit the big time through Ms. Fox's savvy networking strategies. Another client in the commercial furniture industry landed his first million-dollar client when he took Fox's advice.

"Networking in all the wrong places, meeting the wrong people, and not getting the right leads has been a common complaint I've heard for years," Fox says.

Having built a thriving A-list network herself after years of learning the hard way how to network with the leaders and decision makers, she got fed up watching professionals and business people network fiendishly, only to see their bank accounts draining from networking fees and their waistlines expanding from too many lunches and breakfasts, with little or no payoff.

That prompted her to write "Network Like A Fox: A Targeted Approach To Building Business Relationships In Person and Online."

Fox has a lot of experience to share and she knows too well that success does not come easily.

After leaving a 20-year career as a corporate executive in the women's intimate apparel industry, Fox felt ill-equipped to secure clients beyond former colleagues, and she felt deflated about the loss of her corporate identity. Needing to build a network from scratch in order to establish a consulting and training enterprise, she studied every book on business networking and discovered that most of the networking advice she got was either simplistic or ineffectual.

"Piecing together what little good information was out there, I developed my own networking system, and it paid off when I landed plum assignments with Fortune 1000 corporations, major associations, and rapidly growing professional service firms."

In each instance, she applied a targeted networking system based on what she had learned in her corporate career, with a focus on influential decision makers. She began to teach her private clients her "Networking Up" techniques and they too began to thrive.

Another introverted client landed a $50K project in his first month of networking by capitalizing on his Hispanic background and joining a carefully targeted group of successful business owners who serviced the Hispanic market.

These results, among others, inspired her to write the book, which enlightens others on how to network in a strategic, targeted way – and build rewarding relationships – in person as well as on social networks like Linked In.

Most business people are terrified or uncomfortable networking with high-level executives, so "Network Like a Fox" tackles the issue head one, including chapters such as:

  • Breaking Through Your Networking Roadblocks
  • Finding The Right Networking Events & Groups For You
  • How To Work The Room: Meet & Meld With Decision Makers
  • How To Build A Top Network In Your Company
  • How Your Mate Can Make Or Break Your Business Or Network

The book includes twenty case studies from successful business icons and authors like Mary Buffett and Mike Michalowicz, as well as a former Clinton White House staff member. The book has received praise from Barbara Corcoran, renowned entrepreneur and Shark on ABC's Shark Tank, and leaders at companies like Merrill Lynch, Bayer Health Care, and Capital One Bank.

A companion workbook – "Network Like A Fox Into Action" – is filled with exercises and tools to help readers turn ideas into action.

And, Fox created a groundbreaking training course called T.O.P.P. Networking Training – Targeted Opportunities for Powerful Professionals – a comprehensive e-learning and in person program professionals can take to upgrade their networking and lead generation results.
