New Book Examines Government’s Role in Housing Crisis

U.S. Soldier Shares Personal Story, Chronicles America’s Downward Spiral into Recession

METUCHEN, N.J., June 25, 2009 — In his provocative, informative new nonfiction book, “The Road To America’s Economic Meltdown” (published by AuthorHouse), Raymond Beresford Hamilton combines a thorough examination of the current housing and economic crisis with a personal account of how it affected him and his family.

Hamilton, now in his 20th year of active military service, served in both the Gulf and Iraq wars. After spending 14 years overseas, he returned to America with a new assignment working as a military instructor at Fort Gordon, Ga.

When Hamilton and his wife relocated to Georgia with their two children, he began to notice some strange setbacks when registering his vehicle. His driver’s license incorrectly showed as suspended and he was forced to buy a new title for his car. After spending a considerable amount of money and enlisting the help of a state senator, he was able to set the record straight.

Experiencing the ineptitude and outright deception on the part of several government agencies made Hamilton realize that predatory schemes were being perpetrated on the American people to profit the government. At the same time, he became the victim of predatory lending and found himself part of the housing crisis that caused home values to drop dramatically.

Hamilton decided to do some research and find out what was really happening. He wanted to protect his home, his investment and his family. He had lost faith in his government’s ability to help the average person. He began researching the history of land development, mortgaging, foreclosure and the foreclosure process, mortgage laws, secondary mortgages and anything else he could find that would be useful in saving his home and accruing knowledge. Through this research, he found “The Road To America’s Economic Meltdown.” Discover what he learned in the pages of this thoroughly researched, relatable and relevant book.

Raymond Beresford Hamilton is a graduate of Metuchen High School, located in Metuchen, N.J., and a graduate of Jersey City State College, now a university. His degree is in business administration with a concentration in management, and he also taught basic electronics at Fort Gordon, Ga. Now in his 20th year of active military service, Hamilton holds the rank of Staff Sergeant Promotable in the U.S. Army and served in two wars: the Gulf War in 1991 and the Iraq War in 2003. Among his decorations are five Army Accommodation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, and six Good Conduct Medals.
