Bob Akmens Sports Makes Documented Football Handicapping History

ARCADIA, Fla., Nov. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — With his latest 5-1 football weekend, Bob Akmens of basports.com continues to break new ground in The Sports Monitor football handicapping contests.

Ruth Glasgow's The Sports Monitor (TSM) has been around since the 1980s and runs what are widely considered the most respected – and toughest – documented handicapping contests for sports services.

This year's college & NFL football contests have over 125 services participating, and Bob Akmens Sports is shattering all previous records in having one of the most consistently spectacular combined college & NFL seasons ever documented by TSM, leading the combined college & NFL standings by more than 9% points.

10 weeks into the season Bob Akmens Sports is leading The Sports Monitor College Football Contest by almost 10 full percentage points, with almost 69% winners while the second-place service is winning about 59% – a bigger lead at this stage of the season than at any time in the 25 years The Sports Monitor has run their football contests.

Amazingly, Akmens is winning even a higher percentage in the TSM NFL contest, racking up a documented 70% record.  It should be noted that basports.com is the only service in the top-10 of both the TSM college & NFL contests.  And none of the other 124 sports services has anywhere near basports.com's consistency in both college & NFL. For instance, of the 3 other services with comparable NFL records in the TSM contest, one is not competing in the college contest at all, and the other two have college win-percentages of 40% and 54%.

Bob Akmens Sports uses sophisticated computer-models in their handicapping. So unlike most handicappers who get emotionally-involved with their picks, Akmens' methods do not lend themselves to prolonged slumps because they're so quantitatively sound.

And with lots of football action right through the Super Bowl in February, basports.com believes there are many net winners and lots of net profits ahead for them and their clients in football.

Basketball bettors should also rejoice to hear that Bob Akmens Sports led the nation and beat out about 80 other sports services in The Sports Monitor Combined NBA Contest last season by producing both the most net profit and the most net winners during the entire NBA regular-season and playoffs combined with +$25,400 in net profits.

Most sports services never even participate in a documented handicapping contest because most sports services don't win for their clients with any consistency.  Exposing their real records in a public contest would not let them claim their phony 80% winning claims.  Bob Akmens Sports has been in business since 1978 and has more documented #-1 finishes in national contests than any other sports service ever: 301 and counting.

All of these facts are why about.com (owned by The New York Times) wrote in their review of Bob Akmens Sports that they were "one of the most respected handicappers in the business," and that "no other handicapper can match Akmens in terms of winning." Higher praise would be hard to find.

But about.com further says "Akmens…runs one of the only sports services I know that gets respect from bettors of all backgrounds," and that "you truly do get what you pay for, plus more." This review concludes with this statement: "I can count on one hand the number of services that I would give a positive recommendation about to a fellow sports bettor.  Bob Akmens Sports would certainly be included in that select group."
