Social networking site aimed at empty nesters aged fifty and over sees massive membership increase
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., July 26, 2011 — A new social networking website aimed specifically at helping baby boomers lead an active and productive life has more than tripled its membership in the past month. ActiveEmptyNesters.com opened its virtual doors in April of this year as an online community created to allow baby boomers with families that have “flown the nest” to share experiences and promote an active lifestyle.
The social networking site is a dynamic social gathering place where members can meet others with similar interests and provides them with the tools to easily write and publish blogs, share important events, photos and videos, and even create polls and quizzes that can be shared with other users and friends.
“The rapid growth since our launch earlier this year confirms the interest in a social website for Baby Boomers and seniors,” said Ronald Mercier, creator of the ActiveEmptyNesters.com website. “The interest goes far beyond just socializing, it also confirms members are seeking interest groups and activities targeted for their age group. We are introducing content contributors to the site who will discuss topics and form interest groups for the members. Our goal is to get our message out to this population in as many ways as possible.”
The website has seen a massive influx of new members over the past month, thanks in part to exposure from blogs such as Woman’s Day magazine’s Meet Melanie, a blog written by the fictional character Melanie Moretti (played by Valerie Bertinelli in the hit TV comedy Hot in Cleveland). ActiveEmptyNesters.com was recently mentioned in the blog as a great resource for parents with grown children.
Membership to the site is completely free and, once registered, members can begin setting up their personal profile, inviting friends to events, and communicating with old and new friends alike through the site’s built in social networking features. As an added benefit, a section called the Activity Marketplace provides members with daily discounts on products and activities. Members can find greatly reduced prices on activities like bowling, skiing, book clubs and many other categories that will inspire and challenge Empty Nesters to get out and explore an active and meaningful lifestyle.
Active Empty Nesters, LLC is a Colorado Limited Liability Company formed by Ronald Mercier. Mr. Mercier, owner and creator of ActiveEmptyNesters.com, has made it his mission to help his generation stay involved in, and educated on, the rapidly changing technology of today’s modern world. The result is ActiveEmptyNesters.com, a website designed specifically for the demographic of 50 and over to catch up with friends and find new ones.
