Award-Winning Liqueur Company Ventura Limoncello Earns New Accolade with Gold Medal Win at the Spirits of the Americas Competition

VENTURA, Calif., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Ventura Limoncello, a Ventura, CA owned and operated liqueur company, is pleased to announce Ventura Limoncello Originale was awarded a gold medal at the inaugural Spirits of the Americas Competition. James Carling, President of Ventura Limoncello, says, "Being recognized as a Gold Medal winner in the Spirits of the Americas works right into our company mission of being the premier producer of Limoncello liqueur in the United States." Ventura Limoncello has won numerous awards over the last five years including gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2008, 2011), gold medal at the 2011 Microliquor Awards and platinum medal at the 2009 Los Angeles SIP awards.

Husband and wife team James Carling and Manuela Zaretti-Carling produce and market award winning, all-natural, handcrafted liqueurs, combining Manuela's generations-old Italian family recipes with citrus varietals grown in Ventura County, CA. The Ventura Limoncello Company produces 2 styles of Limoncello: Originale and Crema; and 1 style of Orangecello: Blood Orange. Production of Limoncello Originale began in December, 2007; Limoncello Crema was released in October, 2008. Ventura Orangecello Blood Orange was released in April, 2011.

Their liqueurs are currently available in California, Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Oregon.

The Spirits of the Americas competition focuses solely on spirits produced in the western hemisphere and is a subset of the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC). Dori Bryant, IWSC Event Director stated, "The premiere of Spirits of the Americas exceeded our expectations on several fronts. A broad spectrum of distilled spirits participated, including liqueur, brandy, gin, mezcal, pisco, rum, tequila and whisk(e)ys. As anticipated, entries hailed from all over the Americas, seven countries in total, with the largest number of entries received from the U.S. and Mexico. As expected, some countries triumphed in areas where they were not necessarily known for their production, such as vodka and rum from Mexico. We applaud the producers of these brands for their outstanding quality and craftsmanship."
