After early retirement from the military, Joe served non-profits in his local communities. As a Patriot Supporter of the Vietnam Brotherhood and an Historian and Sergeant at Arms of the American Legion, he recorded the stories of veterans to preserve America's national past. He is a member of the Kona, Hi. Freemasons, Pacific Grove, Ca. Freemasons, Scottish Rite Valley of San Jose, Ca., Chaplain of the National Sojourners (and an ordained minister) and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He has two sons, Joseph Jr. and Justin, and lives on the Big Island of Hawaii. Joe is a full time non-fiction writer, photographer, artist, and, of course, ambassador of Aloha.
