Christina Brockett Company Profile
My name is Christina (or Tina if you prefer) and I am a working mom with a son and daughter in elementary school. Each day is a carefully orchestrated balancing act of being a wife, mother and working professional with the occasional bit of me time thrown in. When I became a mom, I realized that I wasn’t who I was before. Something had changed, and it wasn’t just my body—although I would like to have my twenty-something body back. Over time, I realized that I was evolving as a person through my experience of being a mother. MomEvolving is a personal memoir and mom blog written by “me”—a Mom Evolving about my evolution as a parent and a person. Within it are posts about parenting issues, parenting tips and other skills or advice I have found helpful in my quest to not permanently mar my children’s development blueprints. While it is geared more towards moms, both those working and stay-at-home moms, I really feel that much of the content is relevant for you dads out there too—that is if you can get over reading a mommy blog. Oh, and occasionally I throw in other things like cool recipes, crafts, mommy health items (fitness, nutrition, & general health), my bucket list escapades, and life in general. YOU WORK, SO WHAT DO YOU DO? I was in the corporate world for many years as a consultant and then later transitioned into telecom. When I had kids I became an appraiser and a real estate agent to give me more flexibility. I often have the ability to work from home—which is great for work-life balance. SO YOU’RE CURIOUS AND WANT TO KNOW MORE… I was born Christina and then at about five became obsessed with the song, Tina the Ballerina. I refused to do anything unless I was called by Tina, because that could be my name and I was a ballerina so therefore the song then instantly became about me. Later in my senior year of high school I went to Italy and met an Italian boy in Capri who insisted that Christina was a far more beautiful name. I came home from the trip, went to college and became known as Christina. My family and childhood friends didn’t buy it and refused to call me anything but Tina. Professionally I am known as Christina, but most everyone calls me Tina—talk about an identity crisis. SOME OF MY FAVORITE QUOTES ARE… Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~ Harriet Tubman We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore, is not an act but a habit. ~ Aristotle The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it.~ Plutarch The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible .~Arthur C. Clarke
