Animal Fund Company Profile

Animal Fund, originally Marine Mammal Fund, was established in 1972 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to end the killing of dolphins in purse seine tuna fishing operations in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. Expanding its efforts to include the protection of wild and domestic animals, and to elicit public involvement in this effort, the name change became effective in 1979. Since that time the Fund has been involved in a wide range of animal welfare issues and projects (see left). The success of Animal Fund over the years has been achieved mostly because of our ability to work in harmony on important issues with many other non-profits, such as Earth Island Institute, Defenders of Wildlife, American SPCA, Humane Society of the U.S., Friends of Animals, Whale Rescue Team, Smithsonian Institution, Turtle Island, WildAid, Fund for Animals, Oceanic Society, Hawaii Wildlife Fund, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Center for Whale Research, Environmental Defense Fund, American Eagle Foundation, Bat Conservation International, Animal Place, BlueVoice, Farm Sanctuary, Australian Koala Foundation, and Earth Justice (partial list).
