Alaffia was co-founded in 2003 by Olowo-n’djo Tchala and Rose Hyde as a means of alleviating poverty and advancing gender equality in Togo, West Africa. Alaffia was created to help West African communities become sustainable, and we do this through the fair trade of indigenous resources. Empowering individuals is one key to sustainability. We encourage empowerment through our community projects, our women’s cooperatives, and through education and involvement in our local, customer communities. We firmly believe that the cooperation of people across the world is an essential part of building sustainability in all our communities.
