The competition – which culminates in the top 25 entries being displayed in a group art show at the Richard J. Demato Fine Arts Gallery in Sag Harbor, NY on Saturday, November 9th – benefits The Retreat's domestic violence services and is open to all artists with work in artistic media other than video art.

The top three "best in show" win a separate group exhibition at the gallery to be held next year.

Jurors for this year's competition will be Sara Nightingale, owner of the Sara Nightingale Gallery in Water Mill, NY, and Scott Sandell, Visual Arts Director of Stony Brook University (Southampton campus).

The Director of Philanthropy of The Retreat, Hope Kramer, shares with enthusiasm, "This Juried Art Show is a unique way to honor people's artistic talents and passions in a way that creates funds to help abused women and children right here on the East End.  Victims here urgently need the services we provide."

The contest's entry fee is $50 per entry, with unlimited entries per person, and all work must be submitted exclusively in JPEG form.  All actual artwork depicted in the JPEGs submitted must be available for purchase with a 50/50 split between the artist and The Retreat.

"I feel honored when I can use my artistic talent for a cause that benefits others," said Jeanette Martone, last year's Juried Art Show winner.  "Having the opportunity to share what I have created is like getting a gift, I receive much more than I give. I encourage others to go for it."
