Arizona, Illinois Math Teachers Support Yamie Chess at Toy Fair 2014, Validate Usability with Common Core State Standards

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Experienced 7th and 8th grade math and science teachers have joined Harvard, MIT and University of Chicago math expert PhDs in recommending a specialist new math learning aid to parents and educators across America. Yamie Chess: The Adventures of Tigermore and the Mind Angels develops children's math problem solving skills for STEM education. Made in America, Yamie Chess launches at next month's 2014 American International Toy Fair in New York at Booth #5954.

Miss Elizabeth Gates, B.A., a Chicago-based 7th grade math teacher with a degree in Middle Childhood Education from Miami University, and Mrs Jena Phillips, B.S., MEd, an experienced Arizona science educator, have validated Yamie Chess for math education, and confirmed the product's alignment and usability as a practicable tool for the Common Core State Standards.

The specialist teachers together have a combined teaching experience of over 25 years, teaching children every day at all grades and levels of the elementary and middle school system from Title 1 and academic interventions to gifted students. The math teachers' analyses are published at: https://www.yamiechess.com/arizona-science-teacher and https://www.yamiechess.com/illinois-middle-school-math-teacher

Yamie Chess is designed by 2-time USA chess champion Jennifer Shahade in collaboration with a highly qualified educational group of math educators, engineers and scientists drawn from top universities, including: MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Columbia and University of Arizona.

"Research has shown that, by itself, learning to play chess is tied to better logical reasoning and stronger performance in math," explained MIT Professor Michael Ching, Ph.D., a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) math PhD who has conducted high level math research for the U.S. Government's National Science Foundation. The MIT math Ph.D. confirmed, "Yamie Chess adds to this by integrating both mathematical content and math puzzles into the text. I expect children of all ages will find it inspiring and interesting. I strongly recommend it."

Yamie Chess is supported by Jeremy Silman, the U.S. International Master of chess who created the chess scene in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and supplements children's educational progress in math and science. Yamie Chess aims to make the class of 2025 yield more STEM graduates, ready for math, physics and technology careers in U.S. science industries.

Harvard University's Professor Christian Hermann Hesse M.S., Ph.D., a world-leading expert on math education who supports Yamie Chess, wrote in his expert review published at yamiechess.com/harvard: "The mathematical topics are at the center of Yamie Chess: Here the readers are exposed to sets and Venn diagrams, numbers and raising them to powers, fractions and triangles including the theorem of Pythagoras. In terms of special numbers, the Fibonacci sequence appears. And even probability and randomness are addressed at an elementary level. All this is done in a friendly and attractive way. In addition, both the chessic and the mathematical themes are enriched with multiple-choice problems. Without exception, they are well chosen and all of them are appropriate for the specific grades."

At NYC Toy Fair, Yamie Chess will be attending the Pre-show Product Preview on February 15th at Noon in Hall 1E of the Javits Center.
