Ampad Shows Environmental Leadership with SFI(R) Chain-of-Custody Certification

RICHARDSON, Texas, June 25, 2009 — As part of a broad commitment to social responsibility, Ampad is pleased to announce it has achieved the Sustainable Forestry Initiative(R) (SFI(R)) Chain-of-Custody Certification across all of the product categories that it manufactures.

“Ampad’s commitment to the environment extends beyond recycled products as we are constantly looking for new ways to conserve and promote environmental stewardship,” said J. Kevin Coughlin, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Part of our social responsibility is to ensure that we conduct business in a way that assures a positive ecological impact on the environment. Ampad’s SFI(R) Certification enables our customers to make an educated environmental choice about the office products they buy.”

In line with Ampad’s commitment to sustainability, the majority of the items manufactured in its facilities in Mattoon, IL, and Morristown, TN, will be from SFI-certified material.

By achieving SFI certification, Ampad joins a growing community of companies, landowners, and social and environmental organizations, which are committed to improving forest practices on a global scale.

“Demand for products from well-managed forests is increasing worldwide and with today’s announcement Ampad joins a growing number of companies that are demonstrating their environmental commitment through certification to the SFI program,” said SFI Inc. President and CEO Kathy Abusow. “At a time when just 10 percent of the world’s forests are independently certified, Ampad has taken a leadership role by supporting global efforts to improve forest practices.”
