Alameda Island Brewing Co. expects to open mid-2014 at 1716 Park Street
ALAMEDA, Calif., Jan. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Spotmojo, a service aimed at gathering communities' feedback on desired businesses for vacant properties to help prospective business owners know where they're needed and can likely succeed, today played a major role in partnering up a developer and investor with an award-winning brewmaster who plans to open a brewery in Alameda this year.
Alameda Island Brewing Co. was granted a conditional use permit by the City of Alameda to open at 1716 Park Street of Park Vista Square. Brewmaster and owner Matthew Fox said his business will consist of a brewing facility, tasting room, and a dining area to accommodate BYOF (Bring Your Own Food). He hopes to open around the middle of 2014.
Fox had considered opening his brewery at Park Vista Square early on, but plans with an investor fell through. Developer Bill Phua decided to step in as both an investor and partner of the brewing company – fulfilling a dream he's had for years.
Phua said Spotmojo influenced his decision to invest in Alameda Island Brewing Co. when he learned that a brewery/brewpub was the top suggestion for the space on the Spotmojo website.
