26-Year-Old Defies the Odds in Rough Economy

MIAMI, Dec. 10, 2010 — Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar, a Miami, Florida-based restaurant that replicates Napa Valley, will celebrate its 4th anniversary to date. The modestly sized eatery anchors one end of a neighborhood strip mini-mall and has a rather understated exterior that belies the elegance and culinary uniqueness that awaits inside. Chef Adrianne Calvo, the restaurant's proprietor/owner and executive chef, has molded the establishment into one of the city's true dining pleasures while managing to keep a personable atmosphere that is underscored by her frequent one-on-one visits to her customers as they enjoy their meals.

Tenaciously persistent in her vision for every aspect of Chef Adrianne's presentation, the dynamic culinary artist admits that she was selective in who she retained on staff in the early years, and that the process was definitely one of trial and error. "One of the most memorable challenges getting the restaurant started was finding the right team to work with me, who understood my mission, creativity, and craziness. I must have gone through 10 kitchen workers and countless servers," she recalls.

Chef Adrianne's was founded solely on risk and faith. The restaurant benefited initially from a true grassroots, word-of-mouth campaign enabled by the superb dining experiences the owner and chef consistently provided to her customers. "A grassroots campaign is the most honest, I believe, even though the hardest; it is the evidence of a labor of love," says Chef Adrianne.

Her weekly Thursday segment, Maximum Flavor Live with Chef Adrianne, on NBC's South Florida Today, has helped to propel the visibility of her talents considerably since it debuted in late 2008.

"The restaurant on a day-to-day basis is exciting in itself. You never know who's going to walk through your door. At Chef Adrianne's, I've cooked for mayors, governors, soap stars, journalists, anchors, reality tv stars. You name it, I've done it," comments Chef Adrianne. Yet, she emphasizes, all feedback is valued and appreciated equally.

"Each time a customer takes time out of their day to write about their wonderful dining experience at my restaurant on Yelp, UrbanSpoon, Zagat, or any other foodie website, that's just as big of an accomplishment."
