Press Release
Trinity Conference Center to Give Away One-Night Complete
Meeting Stay
One nonprofit will win full grant for up to 40 people
WEST CORNWALL, Conn., Sept. 12, 2007 -- Nonprofit
organizations are typically short on those two precious
commodities, money and time. Now Trinity Conference Center
(http://www.trinitywallstreet.org/center), a service of New
York City's historic Trinity Church/St. Paul's Chapel
(http://www.trinitywallstreet.org), has announced a way for
one nonprofit to have a little more of both: The Center will
give away a complete meeting plan grant for up to 40 people
for one night or 20 people for two nights.
Tucked away in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains on
500 acres along Connecticut's Housatonic River, the Trinity
Conference Center offers amenities and meeting services
rivaling those of the world's most sought-after conference
and retreat centers. The main building houses 27 comfortably
furnished single or double guest rooms, each with its own
private bathroom. Four cottages offer another 14 rooms. The
dining room serves three gourmet buffet meals daily, with
food choices available for any dietary restriction. Coffee
breaks are provided throughout the day.
Wireless Internet access is available throughout the main
building; most rooms have back-up dial-up access. The
library, which offers secular and spiritual books as well as
VHS tapes, has an iMac and ports available for hardwired
high-speed cable access. In between meetings, visitors can
enjoy nature walks along the river, walk the labyrinth, work
out in the exercise room, play billiards, ping pong or table
games, or relax in front of one of the facility's
fireplaces.
Trinity Conference Center holds special appeal for
environmental nonprofits. According to environmental
education group Second Nature, "Wendy and Jon Denn,
directors of Trinity Conference Center, have given much
thought to the ecological impact of their facilities. They
have made important decisions regarding the products used
and the amount of energy and water consumed at Trinity."
Those decisions include upgrading the Center's kitchen with
energy-efficient appliances; washing laundry with
phosphate-free detergent; prohibiting the use of synthetic
chemicals or pesticides; re-seeding lawns with a more
durable species of grass, reducing the need to irrigate and
mow; landscaping with native plants; composting; serving red
meat only upon request; providing recycling bins, and more.
A full explanation of Trinity Conference Center's
environmental policies is available at
http://trinitywallstreet.org/center/footprint.html.
To be eligible to win the grant, any interested 501(c)(3)
nonprofit must use the form at
http://trinitywallstreet.org/center/datecheck.html to check
on available dates for its meeting or conference; once it
has found a suitable date, it will receive a grant for
one-third to one-half off the market rates at a comparable
for-profit conference center. The grant must be locked in by
contract with Trinity Retreat Center by December 31, 2007;
the winner will be notified by January 15, 2008.
