Press Release
Parental Alienation Awareness Organization Joins Many in
Washington, D.C. on August 18th to Commemorate Family
Preservation Day
MIAMI, Aug. 9, 2007 -- On August 18th, Parental Alienation
Awareness Organization (PAAO - http://www.PAawareness.org)
will join many in gathering at our nation's capital to
commemorate the importance of strengthening families. The
event, organized by Minister Ron Smith of Children Need Both
Parents, will host individuals, organizations, businesses,
and clergy from all over the country. We are gathering to
bring attention to the fact that loving parents and children
are being denied access to one another as a result of
interference by others.
We are parents, grandparents, children, professionals, and
laypeople with different focuses united under the banner of
"Family Preservation Day."
The focus of PAAO is to bring awareness and education to the
public and professionals about Parental Alienation and
Hostile Aggressive Parenting behaviors. These behaviors,
done by a third party and generally seen in the context of
divorce and custody situations, take advantage of the
suggestibility and dependency of children. Such behaviors
may include speaking negatively about a parent to the child,
interfering with visitation and communication, and
discussing inappropriate details of the marriage or divorce.
Within the past decade, over 2.4 million North Americans
obtained divorces, including the parents of more than 1
million children under 18.
Parental Alienation and Hostile Aggressive Parenting can
have life-long damaging effects on the relationship between
a child and loving parent. The loss of the parent-child
relationship is not only excruciatingly painful for the
"left behind" parent, but has been shown to cause
long-lasting emotional damage to the child.
"At the DC Rally, we will have an opportunity to provide
awareness about the devastating effects Parental Alienation
and Hostile Aggressive Parenting behaviors have on our
children and the families who love them," pointed out Sarvy
Emo, co-founder of Parental Alienation Awareness
Organization.
Rally organizer Minister Ron Smith, alienated from his
children for many years, has co-authored the book "Cheated"
with his recently reunited son. The book poignantly
describes the effects Parental Alienation had on his two
sons.
Parental Alienation Awareness Organization is proud to be
one of the speakers at the Lincoln Memorial monument. The
First Annual DC Rally will host speakers, booths, and
programs at the 2-day event.
Robin Denison, co-founder of PAAO, adds, "It is significant
that the capital, symbol of our freedom and independence,
should be the backdrop to remind us that children should
have the freedom to love both parents, regardless of the
marital relationship."
