David C. Terry's New Novel, 'Carolina Bays,' Set Amid
Authentic Mystery in North Carolina Coves
Mysterious Disappearances Mark Author's Action-Packed Third
Novel
JACKSONVILLE, N.C., April 9, 2007 -- Up and down the Eastern
Seaboard, a half-million elliptical depressions in the earth
known as the Carolina Bays have mystified scientists and the
public alike since the first aerial photos of the area were
taken in the mid-1930s. The Bays' dubious origins and
remarkably uniform characteristics have long sparked heated
debate - and not a few ghost stories.
Now these natural phenomena are the setting for David C.
Terry's new mystery novel, Carolina Bays (ISBN
1-59858-241-0, Dog Ear Publishing,
http://www.carolinabaysbook.com).
Terry weaves his story of intrigue and danger around the
equally mysterious backdrop of the Carolina Bays. Freelance
investigator Rick Parker, inspired by Terry's real-life
friend of the same name, begins looking into the
disappearance of a family in a lake near Charlotte, N.C.
It's an investigation he's sure he can wrap up quickly,
given his proven track record of solving the unsolvable. But
strange things are happening out there in the Bays. As he
gets deeper into the case, more people start disappearing -
and when Rick realizes just how high the conspiracy reaches,
not even his friends and family are safe.
Although Carolina Bays is fictional, Terry uses real places
and events to support the plot - and, as with his first two
novels, The Vortex and A Gift from Afar, the author proves
his ability to draw readers into the story and keep them
turning pages.
"I have always been interested in the various ghost stories
and the folklore of the Carolina region," Terry explained.
"That's why I became interested in the Carolina Bays. After
doing a comprehensive research of the mysteries of the
origin of these bays rich in biodiversity, I knew they would
provide a perfect setting for this book."
Carolina Bays is available through Dog Ear Publishing
(http://www.dogearpublishing.net), Amazon, Barker & Taylor,
Barnes & Noble, Borders, Ingram, and at fine bookstores
nationwide.
