Buy Early to Beat First Communion Shopping Frenzy
TROY, Mich., Dec. 5, 2006 -- Every spring, over 800,000
children accept the sacrament of First Communion throughout
the United States. To prepare, parents flock to department
stores and children's boutiques in search of the perfect
dress for their little girls to wear. But it's too late -
few styles and sizes remain on the picked-through racks. And
if a non-traditional size is needed, shopping this late in
the First Communion season is usually hopeless from the
start.
"Every year, we see customers panicking because they waited
until the last minute to shop," says Janet Donahue,
president of The Perfect Pear, l.l.c.
(http://www.theperfectpear.com), which specializes in
high-quality First Communion wear for girls and boys. "We're
trying to spread the word to parents to buy early and plan
ahead for this important religious milestone in their
child's life."
The Perfect Pear recommends that customers begin shopping on
its site right after Christmas and encourages them to make
purchases by early February. In addition, parents should
research the First Communion dress codes established by
their parish before placing orders because guidelines vary
among parishes. For example, while some churches prohibit
sleeveless dresses, many others do not. Above all, modesty
is the "golden" First Communion dress-code rule.
"It's quite shocking how some mothers will buy something
inappropriate, and that's why some parishes have adopted
dress codes," Donahue says. "Their daughter is not there to
show off her body - she's there to make a sacrament. Her
dress should meet the guidelines, look beautiful and fit
perfectly. That way, she can focus on the meaning behind the
day. Clergy, nuns and parents appreciate that our apparel
allows them to do just that."
The Perfect Pear carries only trusted name brands - those
bearing a reputation for high-quality fabrics and materials,
and that come in regular, plus and taller sizes. Some of its
most popular First Communion/flower girl lines include The
Ladybug Collection, Cheri, Us Angels, Sweetie Pie Collection
and The Perfect Pear's own Private Collection. The Perfect
Pear also has a bountiful offering of accessories and
headpieces, from elaborate "bridal-style" veils and tiaras
to more modest pieces, such as headbands, bun-wraps and
wreaths.
"We're very in-tune with the latest styles," Donahue says.
"And unlike many brick-and-mortar retailers who can carry
just a handful of styles per collection, we have entire
lines, so there's more selection for our customers."
Started in 1993, The Perfect Pear, l.l.c. is a leader in the
online retail industry. Originally specializing in quality
infant and children's wear, the company has expanded its
online offerings to include its "Perfect Occasions" junior
bridesmaids division, prom, pageant, Sweet 16, Quinceanera,
and all the pertinent accessories. The Perfect Pear carries
many styles in all children's and plus sizes, as well as
designs with extra length. For more information, visit
