Innov-X Announces RoHS/WEEE Compliance Seminars beginning in October

BOSTON, Sept. 19, 2005 -- To help the American Manufacturer mitigate risks associated with the European Union's RoHS - WEEE Directives*, the Alliance of Service Providers & Manufacturers and Innov-X are launching a six-city series of meetings to build awareness and provide information and knowledge on RoHS/WEEE Directives. They are intended to build on the success of ASPMFG's recent Panel Discussions held in Silicon Valley.

The clock is ticking and time is running out and yet data suggests that 40% of American Manufacturers have yet to comply with the directives. The RoHS Directive states that certain electrical and electronic (EEE) materials for import into the EU may not contain levels of Lead, Mercury, Hexavalent Chrome, or certain Bromine compounds (Pb, Hg, Cr6+ or PBB and PBDE) at levels over 0.1% or Cadmium (Cd) at levels over 0.01%. Many other countries are rapidly adopting regulations that emulate the EU Directive. Consequently, requirements concerning the reduction of these toxic substances in EEE products will affect everyone in the worldwide supply chain of EEE commerce.
