Press Release
PAX-TV to Air Special on June 28th Examining President
Bush's Religious Faith
DENVER, June 22, 2005 -- Not since the days of George
Washington and Abraham Lincoln has a president put so much
stock in his Christian faith and prayer life for making
decisions and leading the United States in its hour of
crisis. According to BBC correspondent Justin Webb, "Nobody
spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush. The Bush
administration hums to the sound of prayer. Prayer meetings
take place day and night."
Grizzly Adams Productions (GAP) announced today that its
"Faith in the White House" documentary, airing on the PAX-TV
Network June 28th (9-10 PM ET/PT, 8-9 PM CT/MT), examines
the extraordinary faith and prayer life of President George
W. Bush, and how it impacts his personal life and
decision-making.
"President Bush's faith has been resolute and unshakeable in
dealing with the 9/11 terrorist attack, fighting al-Qaeda,
ridding Iraq of the Saddam Hussein regime, rooting out
terrorists in Afghanistan, and in promoting his domestic
agenda," says GAP's President Charles E. Sellier. "You'll
witness George W. Bush's remarkable journey of faith - from
the bar room to the Oval Office - in this behind-the-scenes
documentary."
According to Newsweek magazine, "This presidency is the most
resolutely faith-based in modern times - an enterprise
founded, supported and guided by trust in the temporal and
spiritual power of God."
"Our Bush Faith television documentary was produced
independent of any contact with the White House, the Bush
administration or influence from the Bush-Cheney Election
Campaign," says David Balsiger, director of the Bush
documentary. "It's based entirely on independent research,
and in part on two best-selling books examining President
Bush's personal faith."
The TV special is largely based on recently released
best-selling books - "George W. Bush On God and Country," by
Tom Freiling, and "A Man of Faith: The Spiritual Journey of
George W. Bush," by David Aikman, former senior
correspondent for Time Magazine. Viewers will also see
extensive interview segments with Stephen Mansfield, author
of "The Faith of George W. Bush."
"Having produced 85 network TV shows on Washington, Lincoln,
the power of prayer, and other Bible-related topics, Grizzly
Adams' executives noticed the extraordinary 'Bush faith'
phenomenon about two years ago and decided to do a
TV/DVD/VHS production documenting this historic event," says
Balsiger.
Included in GAP's Bush Faith documentary are public comments
from several Bush critics as well as numerous interviewees
who provide actual details of their personal experiences
with President Bush in the areas of his faith, prayer life,
faith-based decisions and how he "walks the talk" of his
faith, according to Balsiger.
Named after its long-running NBC-TV series, The Life and
Times of Grizzly Adams, GAP and its producers Charles
Sellier and David Balsiger have created more than 500
family-friendly TV specials and series for NBC, CBS,
Discovery, The Learning Channel, and other networks -
including the popular PAX-TV series, "Encounters with the
Unexplained."
