TPI Software Announces Support for Microsoft Windows Server
2003 x64 Editions
Flagship Product, TPI SmartPayments(TM) Server, Successfully
Runs on Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Enterprise x64
Editions, Resulting in Dramatic Performance Improvements and
Increased ROI
REDMOND, Wash., April 25, 2005 -- TPI Software LLC, a
leading provider of credit card, debit/ATM card, EBT and
electronic check processing software for retail and online
merchants, has successfully verified that TPI
SmartPayments(TM) Server will run on Microsoft's new Windows
Server 2003 x64 Editions. TPI SmartPayments Server
successfully ran on Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, and on both AMD64 and
Intel E64MT hardware, resulting in the ability to deliver
high-value, modular, distributed, scalable systems that can
run in a server farm with low-cost commodity hardware. TPI
Software is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and has been
actively participating in the Microsoft 64-bit testing lab
since August 2004.
A test environment was set up in the Microsoft 64-bit
testing lab. It consisted of two TPI SmartPayments Servers,
one running on AMD64 and the other running on E64MT with
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition. Both TPI
SmartPayments Servers were load balanced and connected to a
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 64-bit Edition running on an Intel
Itanium2 with Windows Server 2003. Three PCs running Windows
XP Professional x64 Editions and TPI SmartPayments client
applications were used to send transactions to this cluster.
The cluster was able to achieve 32 transactions per second
(TPS) with only 20 percent CPU utilization. This compares
with 6-12 TPS with 32-bit servers, a gain of over 400
percent with the new Microsoft x64 platform.
"TPI Software's expertise in the industry and
technologically advanced software capabilities demonstrated
to our customers the superiority of our patent pending
technology," said Andrew Chau, CTO of TPI Software. "As the
technology leader in payment software, it is important to us
to be at the leading edge of Microsoft technology. By
participating in Microsoft's 64-bit testing lab, we were
able to test against upcoming operating system releases to
verify compatibility and provide our customers a future
product road map."
Not only did TPI SmartPayments Server run successfully on
the Windows x64 platform, but performance increased by over
400 percent.
"By using Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and Windows XP
Professional x64 Edition with 64-bit hardware, customers
will get more performance out of each server they purchase,
improving overall ROI," said John Borozan, senior product
manager, Windows Server Division at Microsoft. "Microsoft's
release of these new 64-bit technologies will provide a
powerful platform for the TPI SmartPayments Server."
TPI SmartPayments Server is featured in a Microsoft March
2005 64-bit case study and is listed as one of the 64-bit
applications supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64
Editions. Tracy Metzger, President and CTO of Abanco
International, LLC is quoted in the case study, saying, "By
moving to the 64-bit version of SmartPayments Server on
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 Edition and SQL Server,
we expect to increase performance by three to four times,
for about 20 percent of the cost of scaling out our current
infrastructure."
Built on top of Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft SQL
Server 2000, the TPI SmartPayments Server delivers an
easy-to-integrate, secure, reliable, scalable and
high-performance payment solution that meets the needs of a
broad range of merchants, from stand-alone merchants,
multi-lane retail outlets, enterprise multi-channel
merchants, and on-line merchants operating their own Web
sites to large Internet Service Providers (ISPs) hosting
multiple merchant sites. TPI SmartPayments Server is the
first 64-bit application to be VISA Payment Application Best
Practice (PABP) certified and is in full compliance with
VISA CISP and MasterCard SDP security requirements. TPI
SmartPayments Server provides businesses faster transaction
processing, seamless updates, lower cost, cross-platform
support and enhanced security without the ongoing costs of a
gateway.
