NetEqualizer Adds Recognition, Protection and Quality
Guarantees for Vendor Specific VoIP Applications
Bandwidth Equalizing Products Assure Both Inbound and
Outbound VoIP Quality Across Shared Voice and Data
Connections
LAFAYETTE, Colo., Jan. 11, 2005 -- APconnections, a supplier
of plug-and-play bandwidth shaping products, announced today
that its NetEqualizer product family now supports
recognition, protection and quality guarantees for
vendor-specific VoIP applications (VSVA). With the new VSVA
functionality, NetEqualizer goes beyond merely identifying
generic VoIP protocols such as SIP, H323 and RTP, to
recognition of specific VoIP applications from third-party
vendors including: Avaya, Cisco Systems, Nortel Networks,
Siemens, Mitel Networks, Tenovis (Avaya), Alcatel, NEC,
Inter-Tel, Toshiba, 3Com, Shore Tel, Vonage, Vertical
Networks, Skype, Ericsson, Philips Business Communications
and Aastra Technologies. With the addition of VSVA
recognition, NetEqualizer customers can be assured that
latency-sensitive VoIP traffic will not be impacted by
bandwidth-intensive data traffic.
"Many businesses are currently evaluating VoIP for
deployment in their networks," said Art Reisman, CTO and
founder of APconnections. "However, concerns about quality
across shared data and voice links are stalling many
implementations. With the addition of VSVA quality
guarantees to the NetEqualizer product family, organizations
can now implement VoIP applications with confidence.
NetEqualizer's built-in fairness rules and application
recognition features automatically equalize network traffic.
Vendor-specific VoIP apps get the bandwidth they need and
aren't impacted by p2p and other bandwidth hogs. And, at the
same time, business-critical data applications are
protected."
NetEqualizer guarantees dedicated bandwidth to VSVAs based
on the recognition of their specific traffic patterns and
protects them from bandwidth-intensive Internet traffic such
as large file downloads. The assignment of bandwidth is
dynamic and completely automatic. NetEqualizer's VSVA
guarantee works for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Recognition of VSVA is based on NetEqualizer's Application
Recorder. Application Recorder is a feature within
NetEqualizer that makes it possible to record a specific
application and then add the "footprint" of an application
to the recognition library. This approach allows authorized
NetEqualizer resellers and their end users to quickly add
VSVAs.
