Press Release
Former Packeteer EMEA Sales Executives Join APconnections
Rob Krol Appointed VP of EMEA Sales; Wim Timmer, Director of
Sales Support
LAFAYETTE, Colo., Oct. 18, 2004 -- APconnections, a supplier
of plug-and-play bandwidth shaping products, announced today
that it has broadened its global distribution with the
addition of two former Packeteer sales professionals. Rob
Krol joins as vice president, sales, EMEA. Wim Timmer joins
as director, sales support, EMEA. Krol, with the support of
Timmer, will be responsible for building APconnections EMEA
sales and distribution channels. He held a similar position
with Packeteer, where he was responsible for building the
company's distribution, service provider and enterprise
channel in over 30 countries and grew business to almost $20
million in 2003.
"Rob and Wim bring a wealth of experience and relationships
to APconnections," said Art Reisman, founder and CTO of
APconnections. "Their experience, coupled with the
simplicity and reliability of our NetEqualizer product
family, should lead to explosive sales growth over the next
12-18 months."
"The NetEqualizer products are the answer for enterprises
and service providers that are looking for a bandwidth
shaping solution, but don't want the expense and technical
hassles typically associated with this class of products,"
said Rob Krol, vice president, sales, EMEA for
APconnections. "With NetEqualizer, APconnections has removed
the complexity from bandwidth shaping. The products are
literally plug-and-play. They install in minutes. Built-in
traffic shaping rules handle the rest."
Krol is an industry veteran with over twenty years of
experience in building and growing sales and distribution in
Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining
APconnections, Krol was EMEA sales and marketing director
for Packeteer, where he built the company's distribution and
sales channels and grew the business from less than $100
thousand in 1998 to almost $20 million in 2003. Krol worked
with the top 250 companies in EMEA and established
Packeteer's presence in over 30 countries. In addition, he
managed Packeteer sales and support teams in the UK,
Benelux, Nordics, France, Germany and Spain. Prior to
joining Packeteer, Krol worked for Getronics, SynOptics/Bay
Networks and Xylan, where he was responsible for business
development in Northern Europe.
Timmer joined Packeteer EMEA in 1998. In addition to
pre-sales activities, he established and was responsible for
international technical training activities and was the
first technical person outside the US for first line
customer support. Prior to leaving Packeteer, Timmer was
responsible for the technical implementation of the EMEA
service provider strategy. Following his tenure at
Packeteer, Timmer joined Trapeze Networks and was
responsible for setting up their European technical support
organization.
About NetEqualizer
NetEqualizer appliances are flexible, scalable and
cost-effective bandwidth control products designed for both
corporate and service provider networks. They are
plug-and-play, allowing network administrators and operators
to quickly and easily bring network traffic into balance
without having to build and manage extensive policy
libraries and with no changes to existing network
infrastructure. NetEqualizer appliances use built-in
rules-based, application-level traffic-shaping technology to
dynamically control traffic based on current network usage,
including traffic levels and application types. When the
network is congested, the fairness algorithm favors business
class applications, including VoIP, Web browsing, chat and
email, at the expense of large file downloads. This approach
allows network administrators and operators to maintain high
levels of customer satisfaction without having to purchase
additional bandwidth.
