Micro Laboratories Product Found to Reduce Withdrawal Symptoms During Quitting Smoking Clinical Trials

JOHNSTON, RI, Feb. 25, 2003 -- Micro Laboratories, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: MLAR - BERLIN: MIA) announced results of a study performed by Bruce Becker, MD, Beth Bock, PhD, and Rosa Carmona-Barros, MS of The Centers for Behavioral & Preventive Medicine, The Miriam Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Brown Medical School. The study found that one of Micro Laboratories products help to reduce withdrawal symptoms during quitting smoking clinical trials.

Dr. Becker presented a paper entitled, "St. John's Wort Oral Spray Reduces Withdrawal Symptoms During Quitting Smoking" on February 22 at the Society for Research on Nicotine & Tobacco's 9th Annual Scientific Session being held at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. (www.srnt.org)

The study tested the effect of St. John's Wort, a natural herbal preparation, on smoking withdrawal symptoms. St. John's Wort was delivered to the patient in a unique oral spray formulation which could be used multiple times per day by the subject, mirroring the subject's pattern of cigarette smoking. St. John's Wort decreased subject's anxiety, sleepiness, and restlessness during the first few days after quitting and their cravings for cigarettes and irritability throughout the 2 week study period.

Robert Thistle, CEO of Micro Laboratories, stated, "We are pleased that this study affirms our belief that oral spray delivery of certain medications can provide a very real benefit. This expands the validity of our spray vitamin products."
