NASCAR and POWERPUFF GIRLS Go Interactive At the Western
Show Through Interactivity Powered by OpenTV
OpenTV To Demonstrate Interactive Television Features For
Popular Television Content and Highlight Numerous Strategic
Alliances
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2000) - OpenTV (NASDAQ &
AEX:OPTV), the world's leading interactive television and
media solutions company, will showcase eye-popping
interactivity for some of today's hottest television content
including NASCAR(TM), PowerPuff Girls(TM) and Shop At Home
at this year's Western Show.
OpenTV's Studios, OpenTV's in-house interactive television
studio wrote the ITV programs, ensuring that they blend
seamlessly with OpenTV's digital ITV software platform, are
easy to deploy and heighten the quality of the television
viewing experience.
OpenTV will highlight a wide range of premier interactive
television content at this year's Western Show, including:
-- Turner Sports -- Through an interactive demonstration,
OpenTV takes Turner Sports' coverage of NASCAR(TM),
auto-racing's most popular league, to a whole new level
through interactivity that allows the viewer to select
multiple in-car cameras, monitor real-time onboard telemetry
information including the vehicle speed (mph) and engine
speed (rpm), as well as accessing driver biographies and
statistics for season and career.
-- PowerPuff Girls(TM) -- Powered by OpenTV, PowerPuff
Girls(TM) fans jump into the world of Buttercup, Blossom or
Bubbles and gain immediate access to character background
information and details on special powers, all synchronized
with the television broadcast.
-- Shop At Home -- Through interactivity enabled by OpenTV,
Shop At Home viewers are expected to enjoy a heightened
shopping experience, with instant access to additional
information on currently offered products. OpenTV and Shop
At Home seek to capitalize on t-commerce technology by
allowing viewers to make immediate purchases.
-- OpenTV Weather -- OpenTV's on-demand interactive weather
service provides viewers with accurate and up-to-the-minute
local and national weather, all provided by AccuWeather.
Viewers can access five-day forecasts, high and low
temperatures, national and regional satellite and radar
images and can store local and/or favorite cities for future
easy access.
-- OpenTV News -- News from around the world is dynamically
delivered through OpenTV's interactive news service. Viewers
use their television remote to select real-time news
headlines from a variety of topics including international
news, national news, sports, finance and entertainment.
All of these interactive television features and services
capitalize on OpenTV's worldwide, proven interactive
television (ITV) expertise. In fact, OpenTV recently
cemented the company's position as the most widely deployed
interactive television solution through this week's previous
announcement of more than 11 million OpenTV-enabled set-top
boxes deployed worldwide -- more than all of its competitors
combined.
