As 2016 winds down, we are starting to look at filling our content calendar for 2017. It’s difficult to keep content fresh, which is why we start brainstorming early on. If you know your niche and what your customers respond to, putting ideas on your calendar shouldn’t be too hard. However, we have 15 easy ideas to keep your readers hooked and coming back for more.

  1. calendar with push pins in several datesHow-To—Give your readers solutions to common issues you experience with an easy to follow how-to. You might be surprised at how many of your readers are the do it yourself type.
  2. Interviews—Interviews are a great way to give your readers a comprehensive look at the people who make your company run. You can also interview industry giants, satisfied customers, or the folks behind new breakthroughs in your field.
  3. Case Studies—You deal with complex problems successfully every day—consider turning those stories into case studies to give your customers more insight into why they should choose you.
  4. Infographics—Infographics are both visually interesting and informative. If your blog seems on the verge of Dullsville, take the time to put together an infographic. Bonus—they are great to share on social media and through presentations.
  5. Testimonials—Ask some of your happy clients to share with you why they love your company. You can put together a post using their story, testimonial, and photographs easily.
  6. Demos—If you have a new product that’s recently on the market, have someone record you giving a demo. It doesn’t have to be an extensive demonstration, just enough for your viewers to get the feel for what the product does and why they should use it (and you!)
  7. Industry News & Commentary—Give your opinion on the latest news for your industry on your blog and share your thoughts through social media.
  8. Personal Stories—This is a great way to give your customers better insight into who you are and why you chose this industry. You can also relate a funny story from early in your career or see if an employee might want to share their story.
  9. Checklists—Everyone loves a list. Consider writing up a short checklist related to your industry. For example, if you are a veterinarian, write a list about what to pack for Fido for vacation.
  10. Company Goals—This is a great one for the new year, share the goals you have for your company on your blog. This can include where you want to be at year’s end next year, what things you have learned and what things you hope to learn.
  11. Photography—Visual storytelling is just as important as the written word, sometimes more so because your readers gain a better understanding of what goes on at your company through images.
  12. Surveys—Take the pulse of your people through periodic surveys. Learn what they like about your company, where you can improve, and use the information to guide your business decisions.

There are a ton of different ideas out there on how to keep your content fresh and your readers engaged. If you have an idea for the calendar, share it with us in the comments. We would love to hear from you!
